Cindy Viollete is a world class poker player and is one of the regular players of the World Series of Poker. A certified millionaire, her winnings as of 2008 reached $1,200,000. She is part of a trio of female players, along with Kathy Liebert and Annie Duke, who are regulars in poker circuits played nationwide.
Cindy developed her poker skills as a child which she spent in Las Vegas. She often played with her family and when she was old enough to work, she had fruitful years being a casino employee, standing behind the table, dealing cards at blackjack and poker games.
Once she reached legal age, she started playing poker at casinos in Las Vegas. Later, at around 1984, she started playing in poker tournaments and the prize she won in one game was her launching pad to a skyrocketing career as a professional. The amount she won in that game was the biggest ever won by a woman at that time. In 1984, she won a seven card stud tournament in Lake Tahoe and bought home a total of $74,000 in winnings.
It was shortly thereafter that she married her second husband and took a two years leave from poker. In 1990, she made a great comeback, winning $62,000 in a tournament hosted by Caesar’s Palace. In 1993, she played in the major poker rounds, joining the World Series of Poker and also played on the World Poker Tour. By 1998, her total winnings at the World Series of Poker already totaled more than 840,000 dollars.
Cindy is currently a team member of the Doyles Room online poker site.
Cindy’s style of play is said to be a mixture of surprising affability, with a gift of perception thrown in with a lifetime’s experience of playing cards. She can play the game at a spiritual level or she can just throw caution to the winds and play based solely on guts and daring. Her deft touch at the table she attributes to years spent as a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas, She said that it was there where she developed a skill to read other people, a skill she soon used to her winning advantage. Yet the package you see in Cindy Viollete as a belies her reputation of being able to hold her own against the hardcore and coldly calculating professionals who play the circuit.
Outside the poker circuit, Cindy tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle she says is necessary to sustain her against the rigors of life as a professional poker player. She reads Kabbalah to Feng Shui, from books on self realization to positive thinking. She says that the spiritual and the metaphysical dimensions play an important part of her life.
As a woman, she also enjoys fashion and is currently involved promoting a line of clothing and accessories related to a poker lifestyle. She is currently single and spends her time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas with her beautiful daughter.
